In this documentary, we explore lives of NZ parents who are coping with the loss of their children. Stories of love, loss, and resilience
Albany Heights, Auckland
Please watch the trailer Part1 of the " Silence Tears" Documentary here:
Our son Lev Nemkin was murdered less than a year ago here in Auckland, New Zealand. He was 27. This experience has lead us to meeting many others in a similar situation.
A lack of support channels that could be found within our community, as well as a lack of public awareness and understanding of the tragedies like our's, has prompted me to create a 60-70min documentary film (Inspired by the UK-made short film; "A Love that never dies")
A group of New Zealand parents whom we recently met and who have also lost their children united around this idea and have become involved in the PLC project (Parents who Lost their Children). The film is to be promoted within New Zealand and Internationally.
Funds will primarily be used for this purpose.
Video-audio equipment has already been provided, while production and post-production work will all be done on voluntary or koha basis.
Losing a child is a unique type of loss.
It's not supposed to happen. When it does, it shakes the very foundation of a person's being.
It's not something that can ever be fully resolved or accepted.
It's something that one has to learn to live with.
It is a pain that is difficult to put into words, but it is one that affects millions of families around the world and particularly in New Zealand
In this documentary, we will hear the stories of parents who have had to learn to navigate the ups and downs of grief
Money partially will cover the costs of promoting the documentary in NZ and Internationally; even if the target is not met. The rest will go to NZ Charities and bereavement support groups.(e.g. Grief Centre, Samaritans, YouthLine, Sands NZ)
