Paris to Japan

Please 'Give-a-Little' to help me get to Japan 2016!

I was lucky enough to have been chosen to represent my school on a student exchange to Hiroshima in May. Hiroshima is a city in Japan which was largely destroyed by an atomic bomb during World War II :(

As part of this excursion each student needs to raise $4,000. My Give-a-Little page is just one of the ways I plan to raise the money I need but every dollar counts so any amount, big or small, will be accepted graciously. If you decide to be generous enough to donate $100 or more, I will make a video about you and how awesome you are, and share it on my YouTube channel! :)

Other ways I plan on fundraising include:

- read-a-thon (17th of April):

I am going to read as many book as I can in a 12 hour period. You can sponsor me per book.

- walk-a-thon (23rd of April):

I am going to try and do as many laps as I can of the cycling oval at Olympic Park in New Lynn over a 2 hour period. Sponsor me per lap, or throw in a extra $5 and set me some challenges (i.e. a lap of lunges, 10 burpees after 5 laps).

- 40 hour famine (30th of April):

This is by far going to be the hardest for me - I am going to give up ALL internet access and social media for 40 WHOLE HOURS!!!!!! Sponsor me per hour.

I will also be doing a weekend car wash and a sausage sizzle (locations TBC) so keep your ears open for more information.

About the Trip: We head to Hiroshima on the 5th of May with a 1 night stop over in Singapore. The following morning we head over to Hiroshima where I will meet my new family, which I am very nervous but excited about. I will live with them for 2 weeks, experiencing their way of school and family life and trying their food - this is going to be a challenge for me because I don't even like sushi!!! I will also have to go school SIX DAYS A WEEK, rising very early to catch the train and getting home in time for tea. Eeek!

It isn't all doom and gloom though. We will also be doing things such as the bullet train, going to theme parks, checking out parts of amazing Japanese history and most importantly SHOPPING!

Although I know it is going to be very tough leaving behind my family to join a family I have never met and speak a language I have never learnt I am SO looking forward to expanding my knowledge of Japan and experiencing a different culture & making lifelong friends and memories which I hope will take me far as I continue to grow up.

Please help me get to Japan!!!
