Full Time Dance Dream

I have been accepted into Aotearoa National Dance Institute (formerly known as Canterbury Ballet) for their full time dance training. Alongside this I will be joining the new Prosillio academic programme, the first of it's kind in New Zealand.

This amazing opportunity enables me to train for more hours everyday without giving up my academic studies. My programme will involve morning dance classes, afternoon school classes before returning to dance for some evenings.

To make this commitment I am having to leave my home and family to board in central Christchurch. At 16 years old this is a huge step for me but one I am ready to embark on.

My dream is to complete my New Zealand dance education with Aotearoa National Dance Institute and then continue my training in Denmark. I have a strong calling to Denmark through my paternal heritage. From there it would be to secure a contract with an international contemporary company. This would fulfill another of my dreams, which is to travel and be exposed to other cultures. The culmination of this life experience would be to return to New Zealand to set up and run my own dance academy. To be a teacher that inspires and nurtures students to become their very best would truly be a fulfillment of all my dreams.

To help support the cost of my tuition for the past two years I have been teaching Dance at North Canterbury School of Dance. I have loved this amazing opportunity and it has confirmed to me that dance is what I want in my future.

With my decision to go full time dance this year comes a huge financial commitment. My parents are unable to meet all of this, hence I am asking for your support. My father and I have done a detailed budget for 2017. The total cost has come out to about $20,000. This includes my Dance and school fees, accommodation, travel, dance gear and other living expenses.
