Patrick the cat needs surgery to clear large a blockage in his bladder!
Canterbury
Hi everyone,
I am a fosterer, I foster countless animals including cats, kittens, hedgehogs, and birds. One of my ex feral cats, Patrick, is in a tough situation. (Patrick is 2 years old).
Patrick is a very large black cat with so much love to give.
We have spent 6 months domesticating him, with great success. He was soon ready for rehoming but is now very sick.
Patrick has a blockage in his bladder, the size of a golfball. This is very serious, and he is having surgery in the next day. On top of this, we have found out that he is FIV positive. This is Feline AIDs.
His blockage has nothing to do with FIV, and has formed because of stress and due to his large size.
Although his FIV outcome was not what we had hoped, I believe he deserves a chance at a future.
The costs are for the following;
- Surgery to remove the blockage (anaesthesia etc)
- IV fluids
- 3 day stay at the vets for fluids and constant care
- Pain medication
- Aftercare and ongoing short-term treatment
I am extremely hopeful for the outcome of Patrick and have made the decision to keep him as my own after his treatment.
I want to thank you all in advance for reading his story and being here for his recovery.
Regards,
Zsasha

Patrick’s home! 11 November 2021
Patrick is home after his surgery and hospitalisation. He is on several medications and pain relief, and special food to ensure his blockage doesn’t return. I am keeping a close eye on him and watching his toilet habits. He is getting tonnes of kisses and pats and smooches. Thank you for your support 💜
