Tough day yesterday. I volunteered to collect a cat from a nice lady. This cat just walked into her house on Saturday afternoon and collapsed. She fed her and looked after her over night and reached out to rescues for help. One is south Auckland said they would take her but couldn't collect her. So I said I'd go get her and drop her off the the rescue. But when I saw this sweet girl, knew I had to get her straight to the vets. She was just bones, looked tired and in pain. Off to Whangaparaoa we went as they had availability. The vet examined sweet girl and the news wasn't good. Felt like she has cancer all through her liver and was in heart failure and was severely anemic. Poor girl was just bones and could barely walk. Vets said it was kindest to let her go. I asked if there was any treatment we could give her just to let her experience a few weeks of love and all the premium food she could eat. The vets said there wasn't anything we could do for her, and I could see she was in pain. So I agreed to let her go to sleep. I stayed with her and held her paw and talk to her and even though I knew her for such a short time, I cried for her. My fella named her Boo Radley as no cat dies without a name.

Fly high Boo. I'm sorry this is all I could do for you. 🐾💕🌈

I grabbed this monster boy when I went to pick up a few kittens who were being fed by a family. As I was there, this handsome chap was just laying in the driveway. I asked if anyone owned him and they said, no, they fed him too. Thinking he was probably siring most of these kittens, I picked him up and took him intending to do a TNR. but when I got him home, he already had an eartip. I scanned for a microchip but he had none. I chip all my TNRs as do most rescues, so this guy was truely left to fend for himself. He is a BFG to the max. Nervous and not used to domestic life, he is learning all about us humans and when I have gained a bit more trust, hell be off the the vet for a health check. Then the adoption process will start. He is very sweet but timid so we'll work on getting his confidence up before we think of adoption. Welcome to the tribe Alfi.

  • Wildlings - Continued edition.

      18 October 2021

Thank you to everyone who has donated to help care for all the wildlings who have entered Sophia's care. As this page was such a success and a few people have asked where the page went, I have decided to extend it. Great timing for all those feel good moments around the holidays after donating to a charity ;)

    Bit of a shocker today.

Gypsie was trapped over a year ago along with her 2 teenage kids and a new litter of kittens. While all the kittens learnt to like us hoomans pretty quickly, she has remained aloof, never being touched by her foster mum.

Today we found out why. She went to the vets for eye surgery, an old injury she sustained before being trapped making her unsuitable for TNR. On collection, the vets showed us what else they found... A slug pellet. She had been shot. In the head. Right on the top so whoever shot her was standing above her.

We're so sorry this happened to you gypsie and you can stay with us, happy and well fed, for as lo g as it take for you to trust us again. Rest up sweet girl

  • Arlo. The last of the ringworm crew.

Arlo, the last of my surviving ringworm crew found his forever over the weekend. It took 7 months and lots of effort to get him here. Yes, they had SEVER ringworm and AWEFUL secondary infections we had to fight, but what we didn't predict was the stunt in social development this caused. Being isolated for so much of their first months meant they weren't as coordinates or socialised as they should be. This meant they had to stay part of our foster family for longer than usual. At 7 months, this little champion was a true gift to any human. And as you can see, I think they feel the same way. Happy forever friend. You'll have a piece of my soul for always. Xxx

Poor kitten had been living for weeks with a 4 inch prolapsed rectum. Several surgeries, lots of meds and some awesome probiotics brought him right 😍
