We lose far too many babies to Sudden Unexplained Death in Infancy. Pepi-pods help stop that.
Auckland
Sudden Unexplained Death in Infancy is a terrible thing for any new parent to have to survive. Pepi-pods keep baby safe and secure, and best of all, they are not a high-tech super-expensive solution. They are basically a plastic box - with bedding, and educational material about safe sleep. Each one costs about $120, but Middlemore can get through hundreds of them each year. Not surprising when there are roughly 8000 babies born each year in Counties Manukau.
The Middlemore Foundation has to go out and find the funding for as many Pepi-pods as possible each year, since there is no Government funding. We know it works, because our Sudden Unexplained Death in Infancy rates are falling.
Helping Counties Manukau Health get the best possible outcomes for the people of South Auckland.
