Phil and Cindy need our support after all the giving to others its time for us to give to them.

Last week Phil had a heart attack known as the "widow maker". He was flown to Waikato hospital for care. After a stent and piles of medication he, Cindy and the kids were travelling back from hospital to New Plymouth only for him to have a second heart attack and another flight via helicopter to Waikato hospital. After being discharged and whilst staying with a friend in Hamilton, before heading back to his family, he subsequently had a stroke. With more extensive tests they have now found a large blood clot in his heart. It is going to be a longer journey to recovery than expected.
Phil is one of those generous hearted guys that is always looking for ways to help others. After changing his lifestyle dramatically, he spends a great deal of time giving to those in need and promoting more connected communities. He does this in many ways, ranging from building a website to help fellow life learners connect and share what they are up to, and creating and sharing videos and inspiration for tiny house living, among other inspiring topics. He very generously shares his story on his website www.thebus.nz.
Phil and Cindy always have an open heart (and bus) with time to share with anyone that needs support to move towards "life out of the box". His latest venture www.give4.nz https://www.facebook.com/give4nz is a beautiful way for people to give back and make NZ a better place to live, for us all.
Phil was the primary income earner in his family, and now that he’s been forced to stop, it’s time for us to give back to him. Let’s pitch in and make it so that Phil can take the time to recover and recoup without the stress of worrying that his family is taken care of.
Helping a good friend who needs support.
Practical daily costs + travelling back and forth to Waikato Hospital.
Cindy's update from "back in the bus" 14 September 2018
We are finally back together in our 'own home', with the help of some awesome friends who brought the bus up from New Plymouth to Hamilton for us we are trying to get some sort normality back into our lives although it will never be the same as it was. Phil has appointments almost every day and as he is not allowed to drive it means it's a whole family outing which is interesting 😕 Phil is still dealing with the effects of having the clot in is heart, and the side effects of all his medication, he gets breathless, exhausted quickly and experiences chest pain and headaches almost daily. He did say he is feeling a little better each day though so that is great.
We have started on a plant based eating journey (no meat or dairy) which in our view will really help with his (and all of ours) recovery. Phil has started working on a new website called www.thejourney.nz on which he plans to talk about all aspects of his recovery. Those of you who know Phil know that websites is his happy place and it really brings him joy to be able to share his thoughts with others (when he has some energy!)
The kids are doing well, we are checking out all the playgrounds Hamilton has to offer and plan to try and hunt out some other life learners soon. Judah is about to turn 8 in a weeks time and I have been getting all the birthday requests. I'm hoping we can make it a special day for him being away from his friends and extended family!
Once again, thank you for all the support given it has been sooo helpful in getting us through theae weeks 😄
