Having donated a beautiful piano for the Blenheim community to enjoy, we are now seeking support to maintain the instrument.
Marlborough
Last year the Creative Kids Trust gifted a beautiful piano for the people of Blenheim to enjoy.
We appreciate the community ownership and support for the piano since we unveiled it, and we look forward to all working together so we can all enjoy the instrument for many years to come.
Unfortuntately the piano has not been available for use these summer holidays as it was vandalised just prior to Christmas. A piano technician is currently fixing it for us and we hope to have it available to play again very soon.
Founding Director of Creative Kids, Liz McKay is eagerly anticipating its return, "We have enjoyed such tremendous support from our community for our beautiful street piano and are thrilled to be able to get it back out to you all to enjoy tinkling the ivories again".
Creative Kids Trust were delighted to organise this gift - organising donations, in-kind sponsorship and funding, and voluntary help. We are now seeking support from the Blenheim community to help raise funds for ongoing maintenance on the piano - repair and tuning.
All donations, no matter how big or small, are greatly appreciated in our effort to support this gift of music to Blenheim.
"Julia has spastic quadriplegia so has difficulty walking and using her hands, but while the music is going she will dance and dance. Her attendance at music therapy, learning to movement routines gave me confidence to enrol her in a mainstream dance class which she attends with her twin. I love how music and dancing have been a factor in her participating with able bodied children her own age, regardless of her disability." Julia's Mother, June 2016
Less than two years ago the Creative Kids Trust began supporting vulnerable children in Marlborough with a wide range of needs (including those seeking support with physical, psychological, intellectual, developmental, behavioural and social functioning) to develop through participation in the Creative Arts.
There are now over 30 children enrolled in our Music Therapy programmes, with two more schools ready to join us next term. From babies to teenagers, these children are already taking amazing journeys with the Creative Kids Trust - building confidence, making new friends, and one child who didn't speak has now even started to sing!
Families bringing up children with disabilities tend to experience extra stressors including additional financial burdens.
The Creative Kids Trust is a non-profit organisation, 100% operational from fundraising activities. Any contribution you make will be used support children just like our Julia to 'grow' through the arts.
Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting Creative Kids.
All donations will be spent on maintaining the community piano - such as repairs and tuning.
