Please help Pip with her recovery after a huge fall and 10 nights in the bush that nearly killed her!
Nelson / Tasman
For 10 days stuck on a steep bluff, bordered by a creek and a waterfall, Pip the black labrador survived a 10-metre fall that nearly killed her, lost and alone in the NZ high country our brave girl defied the odds to be with us here today.
We searched high and low for our girl with no luck and as time ran out my brother had to fly back to London for work, heartbroken he got on the plane thinking that would be the last time he would see his best friend.
He asked us to promise him that we would look again for our beloved dog as he still had a feeling she was out there in pain, alone and scared.
And then. . . A miracle happened!
With rescuers finally finding her several hundred metres from the bottom of the steep bluff. Curled up, with severe injuries and just enough energy to lift her head they had found our girl.
Pip had to be helicoptered out to safety and is now on the slow road to recovery from several major injuries due to the impact of the fall such as a shattered knee joint, torn knee ligaments and a spinal injury.
The Hart family would like to thank the public for there kind words through this tough time and offering financial help to support Pip.
This page gives the public, friends and family the opportunity to contribute towards Pips upcoming surgeries and ongoing rehabilitation costs to increase her quality of life.
She is a survivor and deserves a pain free life and all the love in the world!
This page has been created alongside Lees Just Giving page and is in NZ dollars (the page Lee set up is in pounds). We have had many people wanting to donate to a New Zealand website and asked if we could open a Give a Little page too. From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you!
Pip is our family dog who deserves the best possible treatment while she recovers from her injuries after falling off a bluff and being lost in the bush for 10 days.

Pip had her leg amputated 16 May 2018
Our darling pip had a big day yesterday. She had her damaged leg amputated. Her knee joint kept leaking fluid and she had it drained twice in a week. So the call was made to remove it sooner rather than later. Pip was in excellent health so it was a great time to do the procedure. I visited her this morning as she was in surgery for more than 4 hours yesterday so I let her have a good sleep before I went to visit. She was a bit miserable, I think she is over the vet clinic now! But she is currently back home resting and recovering. We hope this is the final hurdle pip needs to recover from and can continue on a good path for the rest of her days. Will update again in a few days 😊
