I work hard for my money but I am still about to lose my house.
Wellington
Please help me keep my home. I always work hard, live responsibly, and do my best to stay on top of life’s commitments.
For years, I worked in public service roles in Wellington. Like many people, I faced a difficult period where, out of work for 18 months, I used all my savings to keep up with my mortgage, houseld expenses and basic living costs.
I’m now work in a local role that I truly love. It gives me purpose but... it pays less than my previous roles. I’ve adjusted as much as I can, I don't drink or smoke but I’ve reached a point where I simply can’t keep up.
My mortgage repayments have increased to a level I can't afford. Even now, after covering essential bills, I’m left with very little — this week, just $90 left — and I still have expenses outstanding.
I live alone in a small, modest home. It’s not fancy, but it’s perfect for me—low maintenance and a place where I feel safe. The thought of losing it is overwhelming.
I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this. I’m close to losing my home, while doing everything I can to hold on to it, I am my wits end.
If you can help, even small contributions make a meaningful difference to help me stay in my home while I continue to work to stabilise my situation.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness and support mean more to me than words can express.
My mortgage and household expenses: power, broadband, insurance.
Thank you so much. Vicki
