Tofilau Esther Tofilau of ASA Foundation as part of the MEASLES SAMOA FUND APPEAL and relief work is now reporting from Samoa as she presents your kind donations to Tuivale Puelua and Fa’aoso Matavale of Laulii who lost three children to measles, two-year-old son Sale and their one-year-old twins, sister Tamara and brother Itila.

Their request was to complete the grave shelter for their three children. We are able to fulfill their wish through your donations to the MEASLES SAMOA FUND APPEAL.

Pictured with your monetary donations are the surviving siblings Lui 6 years old and brother Eddison 4 years old.

Tofilau on your behalf is visiting families that have lost children to the measles epidemic and present your donations and tell them that they are not alone.

To those that have donated, volunteers and everyone that is helping out with the relief supply collections, we thank you so much.

Today and Samoan elderly group in Auckland, Mafutaga Samoa Otara, presented ASA Foundation with an envelope they collected from their benefits and pension to help with the Samoa measles relief efforts.

This is what giving from the heart is all about... it’s not the amount that matters. But where doing nothing is not an option.

This Friday the first supply of diapers / nappies, wipers, masks, plastic gloves, towels, soaps and hygiene supply from the collection in Auckland heads to Samoa. Thank you EIF and our support partners...

To date, 33 measles related deaths have been recorded.

Here is how you can be part of the relief efforts:

1. Please donate to the Givealittle page MEASLES SAMOA FUND APPEAL:

2. Contact Tuala Tagaloa Tusani on (+6421) 0223-8663 or email tagaloatusani@gmail.com if you wish to be involved in the collection of hygiene supply for Samoa. We have collection points in Auckland and Sydney with other overseas cities to be confirmed soon.

3. By sharing our updates to people that care of what’s happening in Samoa. If you want to help and for more information contact Teleiai Edwin Puni on (+6421) 618-042 or email: edwin@puni.co.nz

While help from New Zealand, Australia and Tahiti with vaccinations have arrived, what is not accounted for is the trauma and social impact that the measles situation is having and will continue to have on families, and those on the frontline.

The crisis of the mind and heart also deserves attention and support.

The MEASLES SAMOA FUND APPEAL is to support parents like Tuivale Puelua and Fa’aoso Matavale of Laulii who have lost three children to measles, two-year-old son and their one-year-old twins, sister Tamara and brother Sale. This is so heart breaking.

The MEASLES SAMOA FUND APPEAL is free giving from the heart to the people directly affected with the loss of a child due to the measles outbreak in Samoa. It is administered by a NZ senior health professional and ASA Foundation.

Christmas this year will be a sad one for these families... we want to reach out to them with your help.
