We would like to say a massive thank you to every single person who has donated and helped our family during this heartbreaking time. With your support, we have been able to give Finn the farewell he deserves, take time to grieve and make special memories as a family.

We had an incredible response for our request to donate a toy to our chosen charities, with more than 100 toys being donated🧸 half of these have been donated to the Palmerston North Hospital Children's Ward and Heart Kids. The other half will be donated to Starship Hospital Heart Kids Ward and Ronald McDonald House Auckland. All places that have supported us immensly during Finn's life ❤️

    With love,

    The Hodge family

Sending Love and Prayers to the Hodge Family. While we never met, I have followed Finn's journey for quite some time, sending love and prayers over the internet. Our hearts are heavy. We won't forget. Much love, Ines and Katie White

Thank you so much to everyone for all the love, prayers, messages of support, generous donations, and food parcels we have recieved. It has been a tough week and our brave boy has been fighting hard.

Finn has been making some progress with his breathing tube removed Friday afternoon and he had cuddles with Mum and Dad on Saturday. He is understandably tired and a little uncomfortable but is on regular pain relief to make him comfortable as he recovers.

All going well over the next few days, he will have another brain scan on Wednesday to check there are no further abscesses that require draining and a long term line placed for an extended duration of IV antibiotics.

  • Surgery #2

Finn's second surgery on Wednesday went well and there were no complications.

The surgeon was able to drain a large abscess and another small abscess from Finn's brain.

Good discussions were had with the neurosurgeon team this morning, who were really happy with how the surgeries went. They will be monitoring Finn closely with plans to reduce sedation and remove the breathing tube and do further brain scans next week.

Lucas has been cooking pizza for mum and dad, visited Kelly Tarltons and kept Finn company with some afternoon tea at his bedside.

Hopefully mum, dad and big brother will get cuddles with their boy tomorrow 💙

  • More surgery - Wednesday

The Hodge family would like to thank everyone who has made a donation to help support them with what they are currently facing. The amazing response has been overwhelming and are extremely grateful, feel so loved and supported from you all during this incredibly difficult time.

Finn has remained intubated since Monday and unfortunately needs a second brain surgery tomorrow. This time to drain and rinse a large abscess that wasn't able to be drained during the inital surgery on Monday.

For now, they are embracing the moments with Finn right by his side and cannot wait for him to wake up, see him smile and give him the biggest cuddle!

Finn had his first brain surgery yesterday and it was the best outcome we could have hoped for.

The neurosurgeon was able to extract a large amount of puss from the abscesses in Finn's brain and he is now recovering in ICU. Finn will require approx 6 weeks of IV antibiotics to ensure the infection in his brain is treated. The plan is to have repeat imaging of his brain in the next 2-3 days to determine the next phase of treatment and any future surgeries.

For now, the Hodge family goals are making sure Finn is comfortable and supporting him on his recovery.
