Please help contribute so the Hodge family can focus on Finn and making core memories together as a family.

Finn has spent half his 18month life in hospital. He now faces brain surgery, and without treatment the infection will be fatal.

Feilding, Manawatu-Wanganui

The Hodge family have been through it all over the past 18 months and recently received a challenging diagnosis for their youngest son Finn: Brain surgery.

This news has been a heavy blow for them, but despite these struggles, they continue to demonstrate unwavering strength and resilience.

Finn has a severe and complex heart defect, restrictive lung disease, fully fed through a nasogastric feeding tube and reliant on low flow oxygen. This means Finn needs 24/7 care, so Aimee has stopped working in order to ensure Finn receives the best care.

Finn has had 2 open heart surgeries, one at 6 weeks old and one at 5 months old. On 29th June, Finn had a brain CT scan after experiencing seizures and being acutely unwell with an infection. 6 abcesses were discovered on the left side of his brain that need to be drained and treated with long term antibiotics. Finn is likely to require multiple brain surgeries to treat the infection which comes with significant risk due to his background.

To help the Hodge family navigate this difficult time, we are reaching out for your support. We aim to raise funds so they can focus on Finn while not having the burden of financial stress for everyday essentials while also still creating core memories as a family.

Your contribution, no matter the size, will help make a significant difference to the Hodge Family through this tough journey and help support them when they need it most. Thank you for your support and please share this page if you can.

Kirsten Maas' involvement (page creator)

I have been good friends with Aimee for 15 years.

Aimee is always so supportive, kind and generous towards others and never asks for any sort of help. It's time for her and her family to be on the receiving end of the generosity.

Use of funds

Funds are needed to ease financial pressure of everyday expenses, flights, parking, food and ongoing care, as well as enjoying time together once Finn is well enough again.

Thank you 😊   2 September 2025

We would like to say a massive thank you to every single person who has donated and helped our family during this heartbreaking time. With your support, we have been able to give Finn the farewell he deserves, take time to grieve and make special memories as a family.

We had an incredible response for our request to donate a toy to our chosen charities, with more than 100 toys being donated🧸 half of these have been donated to the Palmerston North Hospital Children's Ward and Heart Kids. The other half will be donated to Starship Hospital Heart Kids Ward and Ronald McDonald House Auckland. All places that have supported us immensly during Finn's life ❤️

With love,

The Hodge family
