Auckland

Hi Everyone, welcome to Deane's Give a Little page. As many of you will know Deane was one of the founding members of the band Satellite Spies and toured New Zealand and Australia performing their hit singles, "Destiny in Motion" and "It Must Be Love". Both songs were Top 40 Hits and will be well known to a number of Kiwis they were great songs of their time. Satellite Spies also supported Dire Straights on their downunder tour and then spent time performing and touring Australia, Europe and the UK.

Satellite Spies Details are here: https://www.audioculture.co.nz/people/satellite-spies

Sadly Deane contracted cancer of the throat in April 2017 and has undergone radiation treatment during 2018 which has been unsuccessful.

Deane has been pursuing alternative treatments which are not working quickly enough - to give him quality of life he needs a cancer treatment which may well eradicate the disease.

It's important to note that this treatment would be free in Australia and that Deane is unable to work, has no government assistance of any kind and has no real income from Superannuation or any sickness benefit. The treatment he will undergo is provided free in Australia for Australian Citizens, but as seems to be the norm, with many cancer treatments it is not funded here in New Zealand.

The cost of this treatment is $40,000 initially and then requires ongoing treatments as necessary. This could amount to $10,000 per month and may extend for a period of 2 years.

Therefore we have set a target of $250,000. for fundraising.

Deane has been assessed for this treatment and it is approved and ready for him to take up.

There are no guarantees with any treatment for cancer however we want to try and give Deane every chance of treatment and recovery. Deane is a fighter and has a strong will to live. Deane has been recording a new version of "Destiny In Motion" due for release and has started recording a new album of songs which have been well crafted, which he would like to complete.

We hope that you can find it in your hearts to support him with the Keytruda treatment required to give him every opportunity to beat this scourge of a disease - thank you every donation counts .

Use of funds

All money will go towards Deane's cancer treatment, if the money goes over target and there is a surplus or things do not go to plan the funds will be used to help Deane's long time partner Toni Sheperd with her own health COPD problem.
