On New Year's Eve 2019, at 31 years old, Hayley saw in the New Year in the hospital with the devastating news that she has stage 4 cervical cancer. Hayley's cancer is terminal. She underwent intensive chemotherapy and radiation last year to try and prolong her life. Sadly the cancer has spread throughout her body as is now causing kidney failure, which isn’t able to be fixed. Her doctor told her last week that she only has days to live.
Hayley is an amazing single Mum to a gorgeous 11 year old. She and her daughter are best friends who do absolutely everything together. This news is having a devastating impact on them both. Hayley’s sister, Angela, set up a givealittle page last year to help raise funds to relieve some financial pressure off Hayley and to enable Hayley to make some nice memories with her daughter. That page has now closed but the generous donations relieved the financial pressure on Hayley and she was able to get out and make lots of memories with her daughter. In October they enjoyed a week long trip with some family around parts of the bottom of the South Island, ending with a nice stay in Queenstown and lots of fun filled activities. I am one of Hayley’s school friends and I would love to help raise some funds for Hayley’s funeral expenses and for her daughters future. I know Hayley and her family will be so grateful for your support. Thank you.
Some more about Hayley’s story:
Hayley first went to her doctor with symptoms in January 2019, almost a year prior to her diagnosis. Her doctor said that because of her age it wouldn't be anything serious. Hayley went back to her doctor numerous times over the following year as her symptoms increased and worsened but she was constantly brushed off by her. It wasn't until she ended up in hospital with kidney failure on Boxing Day 2019, that she was taken seriously. Her cancer has now spread throughout her body.
Hayley would like to get her story out there in the hope that it may help save even just one person from going through what she is. If you have symptoms or aren't feeling right go to your doctor. Don't take no for an answer. Age is not a good enough reason to not get the tests you might need. If they don't listen to you get a second opinion. Don't wait until it is too late. Life is precious.
Hayley is my friend who has only a couple or a few days to live. This money will be to help leave something for Abbey, her daughters future
