Please Help Heather Get To Triathlon World Championships

In February 2018, I completed and won my first short distance triathlon. I joined my local tri club and found that I was extremely passionate about the sport, both the racing and training components.

During the summer of 2018 I participated in my first triathlon season by racing in three national championship events in three different distance races. These races included my first half ironman (Tauranga Half - 2km swim-90km cycle-21.1km run), the Tinman standard distance triathlon and the Kinloch sprint distance national championships. I placed 2nd in my age group in the long distance and standard distance races and 4th in the sprint distance, and this success has qualified me to represent New Zealand at two world championship events in all three distances. The ITU multisport world championships for long distance triathlon is held in Pontevedra, Spain in early May, and the ITU triathlon world championships for standard and sprint distance races in Lausanne, Switzerland at the end of August this year.

I am so proud to have achieved what I have in such a short time and am excited to be given the opportunity to represent New Zealand at an international level this early on in my career. Unfortunately, I am balancing training for these three events with my demanding fifth and final year at vet school at Massey University. This means that my finances to cover the expenses associated with these international events are restricted, so I am looking for support please to help me to cover some of the flights, accommodation, race fees, race uniform etc, so I can make New Zealand proud, and start fulfilling my dreams as an athlete.
