    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the incredibly generous donations. For Jonathon and his family and Melissa's daughter Jessica, the donations will ease the financial burdens that come along with such accidents.

Avery Update: Avery is still at the Wilson's Rehabilitation Center. The center creates an atmosphere for the kids so they have fun and think its playtime, which has Avery participating well. Her neck brace and body brace is required for another 8 weeks, but her leg cast comes off in 2 weeks, which is incredible news! But still a long road ahead, a minimum of 3 more months in rehab. Earlier in the week, Avery had some cuddles with some little animals. Mum, Rochelle said she loved it! I've included a photo of Avery having cuddle time with the little bunny.

Melissa Update: Melissa is having a lot more awake time, she is progressing and her bone injuries are healing well. When awake she is keen to try and get out of bed (obviously she can't with two broken legs). Her two youngest children were able to visit for the first time since the accident. Melissa was over the moon as were the kiddies. Talks of Melissa being released into brain rehabilitation in the coming weeks, fingers crossed! Our family is hopeful once moved to rehab that she will feel more settled. She is still very confused and doesn't remember a lot of things but she has come a really long way. Melissa still has a very long road ahead of her but shes proved she can do it!

Thank you, everyone, for the generous donations. The money raised will assist greatly with the family expenses on this long road to recovery.

Here is an update regarding Melissa: Nothing really to report at the moment with Melissa. Seems she is having a few more moments awake now but still very scrambled and unsure about things. She has spent the other day with her sister Katrina by her side. Katrina was able to lay on the bed with her and give her some cuddle comfort. Melissa seemed to respond well to this. Still taking each day as it comes, hoping as the week goes on it will bring us some more progressive news ❤

Avery Update from mum Rochelle 2nd of March:

This little girl has absolutely amazed me!

we are on our 3rd week at starship, Avery has been off sedation for a week, and properly awake for 7 days now, and in that 7 days, she has improved so much!

    in 7 days we have:

    - All IVs are out

    - Started talking again

    - Improved with arm movements

    - Eating 3 meals a day

    - Out of bed TWICE!

The first time she was out of bed and had cuddles with me, today she sat in a seat and then had cuddles before being put back into bed.

In the last 2 days, she has been moving both her legs! One is in a soft caste which is heavy, shes moved that to the side. Her right leg she has moved side to side and bent her knee (spine specialist and bone specialist don't want to answer my question on if it means she will walk, but they said it's very promising so my hope is high!)

Avery has warmed up to some of the nurses! I'm so glad she has felt comfortable showing them how beautiful her smile is.

  • Update. Thank you for the support <3

    Hi everyone.

We are almost at the 2-week mark since the crash and it all still feels surreal.

The outpouring of love and support that has been shown for Melissa and Avery has brought some comfort in this terrible situation.

I wanted to give an update regarding our loved one's conditions.

Even though it has only been 11 days, Avery and Nana have reached some amazing milestones.

Heres an update from Avery's mum on the 25ht:

''Avery is back to being mostly herself (stubborn), which means she's pushing everyone away that's in her face and not having a bar of anything at all.

4th day of her being awake fully and she has been blowing me away with everything she has been doing. I'm so proud of how well she has been doing and she is handling everything as best as she can right now, with time she might become more settled, or she might not and that's okay.''

Avery has been using her arms and even enjoyed a lollipop. Movement in her legs is not back just yet, but hopefully, with a little more rest they will have some more promising signs.

Here's an update from Melissa's sisters:

''Yesterday we left the hospital once melissa had fallen asleep around 8 pm. She had a bit of a temperature, this has been caused by her right leg which she had surgery for on Tuesday. She had a few wakeful moments today and was attempting to communicate quite a bit. Melissa was able to consume solids with assistance and asked for some "hot chips". Her CT scan yesterday showed an additional brain bleed, which the hospital is monitoring closely. She is still currently in ICU but is making small progress. Her left leg will have surgery to remove the brace, repair broken bones and close wounds. Melissa's facial reconstruction has also been booked''

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for the support and well wishes.
