Help Luny fight his Liver Shunt🩷

Luny has had trouble growing and is still about the size of a 2 month old kitten at 8 months old. He has had difficulty breathing, holding himself upright, and more recently he has gone mostly blind. Luny is a sweet boy who likes to follow us around the house all day and cuddle up! When he has the energy he is very playful but unfortunately we have not had the pleasure of seeing much of that side of him.

We do have insurance for Luny and they have covered some of the testing for finding this diagnosis, but now that the insurance company has found out he was born with this issue they will not cover anything more (surgery) as they are saying it was a pre-existing condition.

Our family had noticed something wrong a few weeks into bringing Luny home as a tiny two month old baby. He has had testing done his whole life and been such a strong baby, they all came with no answers. It wasn’t until Luny was 8 months old and had to be rushed to the emergency vet and we were told to say goodbye that we found out Luny was born with a Liver Shunt which is a rare birth defect where one of his blood vessels bypasses the liver. This means the toxins from Luny eating, drinking, breathing are not filtered through his liver and go into his blood which causes him to be very sick and deteriorate as he grows. We have done all we can for this lovely little guy but we do not have the funds for this big of a surgery. It would break our hearts to say goodbye, especially when he has so much life ahead.
