Just a quick update team. The family continues to be blown away by the tremendous support that the community is showing them.
The funeral took place on Friday and it was absolutely beautiful. The venue was packed and there was standing room only; a testament to Tim and his family, and the many lives that they touch. Tim's family and close friends shared many fond memories of Tim. And although it was very emotional to hear (there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house); it really did warm the heart to hear how Tim shared so much time with his family and friends and that he certainly lived his life to the fullest xx
Following a night filled with more stories, tears and laughter, on Saturday there were tributes to Tim across the Wellington region! Black arm bands were worn across most matches as well as a minutes silence being held across many games.
The family came together to attend two of the games in honour of Tim.
The first was the Wellington United Diamonds league deciding match at Newtown Park against Wairarapa. The Diamonds were staggered that Michaela, Jemma and the family were able to make the game and were certainly spurred on to hold on to a slim 1-0 half-time lead to claim the championship. Michaela even took to the field for the last 30mins of the match! Michaela and Jemma have scored 29 of the 80 goals scored this season by the Diamonds, so it was fitting that they both could be there and lift the trophy. Tim no doubt would have been very chuffed and so so very proud.
Then the family ventured across town to be with the beloved North Wellington Onslows. Despite the hangovers the lads still managed to get the ball in the back of the net. There of course the obligatory post game chaser, with Tim doubt sharing one with them.
All in all it has been a rollercoaster of emotions for the family, but they take great strength from the ongoing support they are receiving.
On behalf of the family, thank you so so much xxx.
