Please help us pay for Jetta's vet bill to potentially save her life :(
Auckland
I generally don't ask for help like this but when it comes to my fur baby Jetta I'm not afraid to beg to help save her life. My meager savings are currently gone due to a family member not currently pulling their weight so I've been keeping the family afloat however I don't think I could have covered these costs anyway. I've already borrowed what I can which has disappeared on vets as below.
The vets refuses to let me pay the potential bill off & I can't apply for a loan as I'm 1.5yrs discharged bankrupt.
My fur baby Jetta ended up at the emergency vets last night having trouble breathing. Oxygen & temporary measures of antibiotics & antihistamine & $454 later she was allowed home.
We managed to get an appointment this morning with one of our usual vets, another $173 later - consult, more antibiotics & anti-inflammatories to maybe give us a week to sort out the $$.
She needs a general to take an x-ray, blood testing & samples taken of the swollen tract running from the back of her jaw down her throat to see what the problem might be. With an estimate of $1200-1500 just for that. The vet is unsure at this stage, it could be her lymphatic system, there was a thought of an abscessed tooth but the second vet isn't so sure about that.
Jetta is a Staffy x who hopefully turns 10 on the 27th of November, she has been with me & my kids through many ups and downs & should be with us for a few more years yet, I really don't want to even have to think about the alternative. Please help!! :(
To pay back $627.89 loaned to me by friends so help pay off the outstanding vet bill and then to raise an $1200-1500 for the testing (general anesthetic, xray, bloods) and more yet to come once we know what's wrong.
I don't even know how to start this.. 18 August 2023
I am heartbroken...
Jetta's testing today found probably the worst possible outcome (vets words). She has a large, most likely cancerous, and totally in-operable (think equivalent of possibly major facial reconstructive surgery for a human but on a dog) growth coming off her jawbone and growing both in and out and slowly closing her windpipe with the swelling and also affecting the flow of blood through one of the major the veins that connects to her heart valves. The vet said he's surprised she's still been able to eat and last this long, but she's been dealing with it like a champ.
The last couple weeks of anti-inflammatories has helped her with keeping the swelling down so she can breath and eat but she cannot live on them forever and the growth will get worse. Sadly, it is time to say goodbye.
So. We have one last weekend with her, we're going to go for a slow walk tomorrow and take her to the beach and let her have actual ice cream rather than just licking the bowl and sleep in the bedroom the next couple of nights and keep me awake with her snoring and have lots of cuddles.
To everyone that has helped with the vet bills we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we were blown away by the love and support from complete strangers, old friends and new and will never forget it, thank you all xxooxx
