Please help my boy Jackson's Recovery
Auckland
I am the volunteer co ordinator for our church food bank, it is run from my garage, I need to make sure no vermin get into the food. I place rat bait usually behind fridges. There was one on top of the fridge and I knock the fridge with my wheelchair and the rat bait fell to the floor. Jackson my service dog is a black Labrador who loves to eat anything all the time, he saw that bait drop and in a half a second pounced on the bait and ate it, I raced him to emergency vets where they induced vomiting, because I was quick to get him to the vet they said the prognoses could be good. I have already put the first bill $1,009 on my credit card, but it is not over. Rat bait is a anticoagulant, he needs medication for a month at $322.00 a bottle plus regular clotting blood test to make sure he isn't bleeding internally, consultation fees, which comes to $412 each time he goes, he will need more medications for the next month before the vet can say he is safe from bleeding internally. I'm on an invalid benefit I will struggle paying the long term bill which could be up to $5,000. I am so kicking myself for not stopping him from getting the bait, it takes me more than half a second for me to bend down in my wheelchair to pick something up. If you could find it in your heart to help Jackson get his treatment and blood clotting test, I would be so deeply be grateful. Thank you so much
