The dog who rescued me as much as I rescued her needs help

Please Help Me Save Maggie..
Maggie came into my life in the most unexpected way. One day she showed up at my front door after escaping her previous owner. She’d already had three owners in the first six months of her short life and she was terrified and unsure. But the moment I saw her, I just knew she was meant to be mine. Within a month she was officially my girl, and she hasn’t left my side since.
This morning, Maggie ran under the wheel of a moving vehicle on a 50km road. Somehow, the only major injury she has is a completely ruptured knee. The vets say she can make a full recovery, but she needs surgery, it costs $6,000. My “premium” insurance doesn’t cover this kind of injury.
I work two jobs, and I’m just getting by as it is. I would do anything for her, but I simply can’t afford this on my own. The thought of having to choose between going into debt I can’t afford or putting her to sleep is breaking me. She’s young, she’s strong, she’s full of life. She still has so many tail chases ahead of her, so many lake swims, so many cuddles. She truly is my best friend and the reason I get out of bed some days.
I hate asking for help, but I don’t know what else to do. If you’re able to donate anything at all, it could be the reason Maggie gets to run again and stay by my side where she belongs. Even sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you for reading, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can give.
Maggie’s needs a full knee reconstruction- $6000. Any excess donations will go towards her ongoing care.
Our Deepest Gratitude 13 December 2025
Maggie is 5 days post op, every day I am humbled by her resilience and adaptability.
She is becoming more sure-footed as the days progress and her happiness is returning.
Today we got our paws wet at the lake front and I saw the spark return in Maggie as she gently nuzzled at rocks in the shallow water trying to pick them up.
Every day I thank Maggie for still being here, this experience has put a lot into perspective and I feel I truly value the meaning of my connection with her and how much I can learn from her, I am
so thankful to know the feeling of giving love and receiving love and the unconditional love only our furry companions can provide.
Thank you to all of you, all the beautiful prayers, kind words of encouragement and to see and feel completely supported and loved - No words can do justice and describe the way I feel and how grateful I am.
