Monkey was attacked by a dog and needs life saving treatment to give him a fighting chance.
Nationwide
I was in bed with a red wine watching Netflix last night (4 March) when a neighbour messaged me at 11pm to say she saw a cat "with its guts hanging out." We rushed over to look and saw the poor little darling, literally with guts hanging onto the floor, cowering next door. It was my other neighbour's cat, and once they saw the injuries, they no longer wanted him. With much difficulty we caught this poor little boy and rushed him to the after hours vet clinic in Manukau. I had no money to pay for him upfront, so called several good friends and was lent this money. We have paid more than $3000 to date, with all the receipts uploaded for transparency. We didn't have this money upfront. We called on friends, readjusted automatic payments, and I cancelled my gym membership.
After surgery the vet told me he is incredibly lucky to be alive, as what was hanging out of his belly was in fact stomach fat/lining and not actual intestines or he would 100% not have survived. It was most likely a dog attack, and he had been like that for at least 2 days. I have no idea how he survived. He is still not out of the woods as risk of infection is incredibly high, he is running a fever and has to be monitored. He is staying with Great South Road vets, I am taking him to Mangere vet clinic for post operation recovery. I postponed my own dog's surgery tomorrow, which was to take a biopsy of her skin to rule out cancer as she has a chronic skin condition, as I don't have the money right now. Any amount would be incredibly appreciated towards this lovely boy, who we will rehome after he is fully recovered - fingers crossed.
The funds will cover after hours surgery, and after care at Great South Road vets.
