Help support our beautiful greyhound

Christchurch, Canterbury

Sweet little Queen is a 7 year old greyhound. We first met her as a foster in June 2024 and her personality slowly emerged . In no time she was doing spins for a treat, laying on her back with her paws in the air and screaming when someone comes home. We then officially adopted her in December 2024.

Unfortunately she broke her leg last Friday and had been undergoing a number of tests as the vet suspects she has bone cancer in her knee. So far she has been sedated twice, the first to complete X-rays and the second to take a sample. The tests are still inconclusive, so nothing can be done until the vet is certain if cancer is present or not.

Tomorrow she will be having a more invasive surgery to take a larger sample.

Unfortunately the costs are adding up and pet insurance was not an option due to her age and breed, could not be insured.

Queen is such a stubborn girl which at this time as shown she won’t let anything stop her, she’s still food obsessed and her ears point up when she hears the treat container open. She is getting by on three legs when she isn’t being carried.

Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in Queen’s life. Please share this page with your friends and family, and help us give Queen the best possible chance at a full recovery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

An update on Queen …  4 April 2025

Firstly thank you so much for all your donations so far.

Unfortunately Queen was diagnosed with early stage Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) following her second biopsy. She had managed over a week with a fractured knee and has shown amazing strength. Although we can’t afford chemotherapy for her, we decided she was too healthy and happy to say goodbye now. Queen had her leg amputated and is now recovering.

This way she will get at least a more few months of good health, chicken necks and beach walks.

This is a new chapter and likely her last, we will make it the best we can for her.

With the huge expense of the recent vets bills and giving my beautiful girl the best ending possibly we would so grateful of any donation you can make to support her.
