Please Help My Family Stay Safe in New Zealand
Browns Bay, Auckland
My name is Aljady, and I am writing as a father trying to protect his family.
We are from Colombia. Violence made it impossible to stay, so we sold everything we owned to bring our children somewhere safe, where they could grow without fear.
In Colombia, my family suffered a traumatic experience: I was kidnapped and held for ransom. The impact remains with us, especially our children. Returning is not safe.
We came to New Zealand on valid work visas, full of hope. But we believe we were taken advantage of by a construction company, along with other migrant workers. Our case was reported in the news, and what was meant to be a fresh start became another crisis.
We are now in a humanitarian immigration process. While waiting for a decision, my wife Rosana and I cannot work and struggle to cover rent, food, and other basic needs. Our children consider New Zealand home but cannot attend school, which is very hard on them emotionally.
We are asking for help to cover essential living costs while we await the outcome of our application. Any donation, no matter the size, or sharing our story, would mean more than we can express. Thank you for your kindness and support
Funds will go towards rent, food, basic living needs, and essential legal costs linked to our immigration and humanitarian process
