Please help my Poppa rebuild his life after he lost everything in the Kumeū flood.
Auckland
You may be aware of the devastating flooding which has rendered many homeless, and without essential items in Kumeū, Auckland. Reports quickly circulated about a man that was stuck in a shed and was not rescued until the next day. This man is my Dad (Amun and Honor's Poppa), and the shed, now ruined, was actually his cabin where he was staying.
On the 31st August 2021 my humble father would become another flood victim. He woke up to find water rapidly rising around him. He endured 7 long hours in sewerage contaminated water, waiting to be evacuated by rescue boat, with only the clothes on his back.
He managed to stack some sentimental items out of harms way, however, the flood destroyed most of his personal possessions, including clothing, shoes, electronics, whiteware, furnishings, food and more. Unfortunately, he had no insurance and your generous donations will help Dad to re-establish himself.
My Dad is a proud man and was too whakama to ask for help, so I have set up this givealittle page for him, on his behalf.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the rescue team, who safely evacuated our very much loved Dad and Poppa.
