Please help our Samoan bilingual Aoga (Early childhood centre) to thrive for next generations in their Samoan Christian heritage

$150 of $75,500 goal
Given by 6 generous donors in around 6 months

Help our Aoga to stay viable, since COVID-19 impact, to support our young children to thrive in their Samoan Christian heritage.

Auckland

Our bilingual Samoan Aoga (Early childhood education centre) was established in the 1980s and was officially opened in 2003 in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Mangere PIPC (Pacific Islanders Presbyterian church). It was the dream of our founders to have a Samoan Christian Early childhood centre whereby our Samoan language, traditions, culture and faith in God could be shared with next generations.

Some of our founders have passed, but many children and their families have been blessed with this firm foundation and support in their education throughout these years to where it is today. Some have continued their education into Universities, careers, started working, started their own families and travelled overseas etc. and we hope that they and their families may be able to help us today.

With 2020 being an unprecedented year for the global pandemic of COVID-19 virus, many parents have not wanted to send their children outside of their homes for fear of catching the virus. This has impacted our Aoga and many other centres have closed and we are fearful that we could become one of those statistics unless we get help and support for our beloved Aoga.

So we are reaching out through Social media to ask for help from all past pupils, their families and friends of the Aoga to please support our fundraising call to assist us in continuing with our core work of supporting our families, sharing our faith and teaching our measina fa'aSamoa to our next generations.

Use of funds

The funds will be spent on supporting our Aoga to keep up to date on bills, the day to day needs of our tamaiti (children), and being good stewards of the treasures that God has gifted us with, in this Aoga.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
