Please help our one and only brother, Justin Michael Brien, has been diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer with a BRAF mutation
Manurewa, Auckland
Our one and only brother, Justin Michael Brien, has been diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer with a BRAF mutation — an aggressive and advanced form of cancer.
Justin is only 43 years old. The second eldest, he is young at heart, deeply loved by his four sisters, and a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews who absolutely adore him. Family has always been everything to Justin.
Justin has always been the one who shows up for others.
Now, we are asking for help to show up for him.
Justin is currently undergoing an intensive treatment plan that includes FOLFOX chemotherapy alongside targeted therapies Cetuximab and Encorafenib. This approach is guided by the BREAKWATER trial paradigm, offering hope for patients with BRAF-mutated colorectal cancer.
While some aspects of his care are covered, these targeted treatments are not fully funded in New Zealand.
The estimated cost of this treatment is approximately $158,000 for 12 months.
This is far beyond what our family can manage alone, but it represents something incredibly important — more time.
More time for Justin to be with the people he loves, more time for shared moments, and more time for us to hold onto the person who means so much to all of us.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for standing with Justin and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
Your support, kindness, and generosity mean more than we can ever express.
