Please help our little Bella with her life saving surgery!

  • Second Scan

      30 May 2024

Bella had her sedation & repeat ultrasound and bloods yesterday. Bit of a mixed bag.

Marked improvement in her gallbladder wall and the bile is more normal than previous. Her liver remains diffusely abnormal on ultrasound, similar to her previous ultrasound. Unfortunately we were hoping for a bit better news in regards to her liver 😔 One good thing though is her blood work is looking much better. Her duodenal mass lesion appears static. Bella's bile ducts are still markedly distended as well.

She was shaved yest due to furrballs/ grooming causing additional inflammation. She was extremely cold lastnight and trembling so we got a knit for her.

She showed interest in food when she got home, but hasn't eaten at all over night or all day today, showing no interest 😢 And is wobbly on her feet.

I have now got some anti nausea for her in hopes that may be the issue post sedation. Unfortunately for now it means i will need to tube feed her if nothing improves over the course of the next few hours. Poor Bella, it seems neverending

  • Test results/ Specialist follow up

      24 May 2024

Our poor baby has both liver disease and bowel disease. Absolutely heart broken 💔 She needs another ultrasound, bloods & sedation next week, then another in 3 weeks time to determine how the infection in her liver & gallbladder is tracking. The mass thankfully isn't cancer, it is infection. It seems Bella will need to be on lifelong medication, with close monitoring from bloods & ultrasounds. Her sister has lost weight recently (could be stress). But out of precaution we need to get an ultrasound/bloods done for her as Bella went downhill very quickly! For now, we need to try & get the infection under control & hope that her scan next Wednesday reflects this.

Alot to process, very stressed, sleep deprived & overwhelmed. We had hoped that not so much monitoring would be needed going forward, as it has been a juggling act with of one of us working & the other needing to take time off. Unfortunately with the restrictions, tube, wound site still healing due to open surgery, its going to be a while longer trying to make things work and being there for Bella 24/7.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate each and every one of you that has contributed towards Bella's surgery, care and recovery. For all of the check ins, well wishes and positive thoughts, and all those kind enough to donate so far...we appreciate it! 💕

There are alot of ongoing scans, check ups and tests still to go. Our Givealittle page is active for another week if you would like to donate 🙏

      20 May 2024

Bella was discharged today, they felt she would do better in her own surroundings, until her test and biopsy results come back. We meet with the specialist and surgeon on Friday. It is an incredibly stressful feeling knowing that everything is on our shoulders and we need to get it right. Line feeds (if she not eating), antibiotics, liver meds, vitamins, pain relief etc a couple of times a day, line flushes, keeping your eye on the wound and line, confining her to a space so she doesn't jump or get caught, watching her sister around her. The list goes on. I'm sure it'll get easier but for now it's quite overwhelming. So good to have her home though! 🩷

Thanks again for all of your support x

  • ALT blood results

      19 May 2024
    Main image

Bellas first blood results are back. Prior to surgery her ALT levels were 1233 (should be under 80!)

    FYI:

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzyme found inside liver cells. Liver enzymes, including ALT, help your liver break down proteins to make them easier for your body to absorb. When your liver is damaged or inflamed, it can release ALT into your bloodstream. This causes your ALT levels to rise.

THESE ARE NOW AT 595 WHICH IS FANTASTIC!

Bella is still hooked up to the feeding tube and IV antibiotics, pain relief etc. Catheter is out. She was a little stressed today, which made me quite upset. But we did manage to get her to eat alot of her food during our visit, and she purred 🥰

We thank you for your donations xx

Went to see beautiful Bella yesterday. Extremely hard seeing her with tubes everywhere! And you could tell she just wanted to come home. She was happy to see us, calmed down and even ate some food from my hand! Overnight she has been stable, and bloods taken. There's unfortunately not alot of information given over the weekend as the medicine team aren't back until tomorrow. We should have some test of the results back and more information then. Thank you very much for all who have donated towards Bellas care! We appreciate it x
