Please Help Our Rescue Dog Get Vet Care

  • Latest vet visit

    Hey everyone,

Just a quick update after our latest vet visit. His heart has shown some improvement, which is great news, but it’s still not stable enough yet for his dental surgery. He’s responding well to antibiotics, but they’re only a temporary measure — the infection will continue returning until the teeth are removed.

The vet plans to reassess him in January, when more staff will be available to ensure the procedure can be done safely and without rushing. They can’t guarantee yet whether he will be strong enough at that time, but we’re following all their recommendations and doing everything we can to get him there.

In the meantime, he has been prescribed additional heart medication (we will be getting more next week) and these ongoing costs have reduced the funds we had raised for the surgery. We’re working hard to rebuild the total needed for his operation, and every bit of support truly helps.

We will also be reopening our Givealittle page so anyone who can contribute or share it can help us reach the goal and make sure he gets the care he needs. We haven’t set a specific goal this time, as the cost of his ongoing heart medication isn’t certain until his surgery.

No matter what the January assessment brings, all funds raised will go directly toward his vet bills, heart medication, and medical care. Thank you so much for your kindness, understanding, and ongoing support — it means the world to us. ❤️

  • Important update

      14 November 2025

    Hi everyone,

We wanted to update you on what happened today. When we brought our boy in for his scheduled surgery, something didn’t feel right. He kept looking at me in a way that made my stomach drop, almost as if he was trying to tell me something was wrong. I mentioned this to the vet, and they ran additional tests, which revealed his heart is significantly enlarged, almost half a size bigger than it should be. Because of this, surgery would be too risky today.

He’s on heart medication for the next three weeks, and the vet gave him antibiotics to help prevent the infection from worsening for now. After three weeks,he’ll be reassessed to see if surgery can safely go ahead. If his heart stabilises, we hope to proceed. If not, our priority will be ongoing care to keep him healthy, comfortable, and happy.

We want to be transparent with everyone who has donated. The Givealittle funds will go towards his invoice today and, if surgery can safely go ahead, that as well. If surgery isn’t possible, the funds will support his ongoing vet care, including heart medication, antibiotics, consultations, and any treatments he needs. Either way, your generosity is helping give him the longest, healthiest life.

Thank you for your compassion and support. This isn’t what we were hoping for. No one expected things to take such a scary turn, and it’s been tough on us. But we are holding on to hope he can recover and will continue doing everything possible to keep him safe, healthy, and loved

  • Yay! Our Boy is Going in for Surgery Tomorrow! 💛

      13 November 2025

We are overjoyed to share that our boy will be moving forward with his surgery tomorrow! This incredible milestone wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you. Your generosity and support have truly made a life-changing difference. I wish there were words to describe how much it means to have your support and faith in us - from the bottom of our hearts thank you

Due to the staggered payout system of Givealittle, we will be able to pay part of the surgery cost when we pick him up after the procedure, and the remaining balance will be paid next week once the next payout is processed.

Once the full invoice is settled, we will post it here so you can see the impact of your support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping give our boy the care he needs. We couldnt have done this without each one of you!💛

  • 7 Days Until Surgery Please Help Us Reach Our Goal 🙏

      7 November 2025

    Hi everyone,

Our boys surgery is now just 7 days away (on November 14), and we need to have the funds ready by November 12 — that’s only 5 days left to reach our goal.

We’ve raised $425 so far, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s donated or shared. Every bit of support means the world to us. But we’re still short of what’s needed to cover his surgery costs, and time is running out.

We’ve reached out to local businesses, shared our story across New Zealand, and asked friends and family to help share — but we’re still struggling to get more eyes on our page. Please, if you can’t donate, a share truly helps. You never know who might see it and be able to give even a few dollars.

Even $2 helps — it all adds up quickly. Every donation and every share brings us one step closer to getting him the care he needs

Thank you all so much for your generosity and for supporting us and our doggo 🐶

Throwback photo to when he was a bit younger 😅
