Patches scar is healing up nicely. She went for a checkup on Monday & has a final checkup on Friday. Her Cyst analysis is all good too, it's confirmed as benign & they got the whole thing out.

We want to once again say Thank You to the Kind and Generous People who donated to Patches treatment, without Your Help she would still be suffering in silence.

  • 😿😹 Patches has been Waking Up Crying Again 😿😹

I think the Benign Cyst Patches has on her back is now bothering her as she has started to wake up crying in the night again.

The Cyst is the reason I took her to the vet as she was waking up crying then as well. Her Overactive Thyroid was just a bonus on top.

To think that my old vet could & should have sorted this out +/- 3 years ago when it was a mere pinhead makes me really annoyed. I was not negligent in my Duty of Care to Patches.

Anyway, hopefully I should have just about enough when Patches Give-a-Little page finishes (and they pay me) together with what I've managed to squirrel away the last few months to at least get her Cyst sorted for now.

The vet did want to do that operation when she had her blood tests (a week before) in preparation for the Radioactive Iodine Treatment, but I thought then & still think now that would be a bit too much all together.

    🐾💕🐾❤️🐾💕🐾❤️🐾💕🐾❤️🐾💕🐾❤️

Anyway, I just want to say a Huge Thank You to the Wonderful people that have donated to Patches cause so far. With a couple (literally) of exceptions I do not know you Lovely people.

Please know that Patches and I are eternally grateful for your kindness, compassion, generosity and the caring that you have shown to my Beautiful Girl Patches.

  • 🐾 Just When I Thought Nobody Cared 🐾

Until this afternoon I thought Patches was dreaming with her Faith in the Goodness & Kindness of people.

The last donation Patches received was on 21st April, over a month ago despite my dogged, repeated (and probably irritating) advertising everywhere I know about frequently.

Then Boom ... a very Generous, Kind and Wonderful Private person donated this afternoon! Wow, I'm stunned.

Of course Patches is just sitting on her bed with the 'I Told You So' look on her face. Patches has much more faith than I do, even though she is ailing, she never complains.

I am concerned about her though, she is waking up crying again. I think it's the cyst that is bothering her.

I've managed to scrimp and save up about $450 which is sitting in the vet's account although every month I have to get her Vidalta 10mg tablets which are about $70 a month. But they are keeping her Overactive Thyroid under control.

I am buoyed by her latest donation received and hopeful there will be at least enough to get her cyst operated on.

Thank you so very much to All the Generous, Caring Souls who have donated to Patches, it is extremely very much appreciated.

    🐾💕🐾

P.S. This is Patches this afternoon, she's in a bit of a mood with me snapping her photo, a bit disdainful 😁

  • Patches Booking for Radioactive Iodine Treatment

      2 May 2019

🐾😻 First Patches & I want to say a Huge Thank You for donations received 🐾😻

Patches booking for Radioactive Iodine Treatment at Veterinary Specialist Group in Mt. Albert on the 30th April at 2:30pm has been deferred due to current lack funds.

    1) Radioactive Iodine Treatment & 7 days in hospital cost $950.00

    2) Blood & Urine Test within 2 months prior to treatment - to establish how healthy her kidneys are approx. $360.00.

    3) Blood & Urine Test 1 month after treatment - to assess the success of the treatment approx. $360.00.

Patches has to be sedated for the tests.

Then there's the operation to remove Patches Benign Cyst - on her back - quoted approx. $870.00 to $950.00.

Her vet has suggested this be done when she has her pre-treatment tests - 2) above. But at this stage I'm not convinced about the timing of surgery to remove the cyst as I am concerned it may be a bit much if done together.

Meanwhile Patches Hyperactive Thyroid (Neo-mercazole/Felimazole) is being managed by a daily 10mg Vidalta tablet:

    Cost $71.00 per month.

She is now into her 4th month of Vidalta and I was pleasantly surprised to have a small decrease in price this month to $68.03.

Total to date - 4 months Vidalta Tablets $281.03.

    To be continued ...

  • What's Been Happening ... It Never Rains But it Pours

      31 March 2019

A Big Thank You to the generosity of People that have Donated to Patches or Shared my Fundraiser.

I had a booking for Patches to have the Radioactive Iodine Treatment on 30-Apr-19 at 02:30 pm which I have subsequently had to postpone due to lack of funds.

Patches is idling along at the moment on her meds of one Vidalta tablet a day. She's into her 3rd month of having these tablets at $71.00 per month.

Her benign cyst also needs to be removed by an operation which I am struggling to save up for.

In the interim I had to take Sox to the vet on 3 occasions (once to my old vet where I had some credit left). Twice to my new vet who discovered a grass seed lodged in his eye which required a short stay for removal and proper eye drops.

Both vets did an in House Eye Fluoroscen Test, but only my new vet spotted the grass seed in Sox's eye!

$457.68 later including the 3rd month's Vidalta tablets for Patches, feels like I'm going backwards ... It never rains but it pours.
