Please help Rachel get another chance at life

Bay Of Plenty, Whakatane District

Rachel was living her dream as an elite athlete, on a U.S. college football scholarship. But three years ago, her health suddenly declined. Today, she can no longer live a normal life

Rachel has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome; a connective tissue disorder that affects her entire body. Unfortunately this means she suffers from its co-morbidities, one of which are AVCS. She was diagnosed with 3 rare and devastating Abdominal Vascular Compression Syndromes (AVCS). It makes eating unbearable, and her body has been slowly starving. Now severely malnourished, she depends on a feeding tube to survive. Most days are spent in bed exhausted, unwell, with constant nausea and pain along with many other debilitating symptoms

Despite repeated pleas for help, she was left to deteriorate and over the past eight months her health worsened dramatically. She was then dismissed, told nothing was wrong; and accused of having two eating disorders

Thanks to kind families who faced similar battles we found a private vascular surgeon who finally gave her the diagnosis she had been searching for. Unfortunately there are no treatment options in NZ. We urgently needs to raise an estimated $150,000 for surgery. She is now in touch with multiple surgeons overseas. Other AVCS sufferers in NZ have publicly spoken about their similar long difficult journeys and how much their lives have improved since surgery

Every donation, share, and kind word brings Rachel closer to hope

Surgery!  15 September 2025

Rachel's surgery went well!! 7 days post op and she is healing so well! So many improvements we have already seen, plus she was walking unassisted only after a few days! All medical professionals in her care were amazing! Now it's time for the long road to recovery! We are hoping to be back in New Zealand by next weekend.

We can't thank everyone enough for the love and support in getting our girl over here! Every donation and kind message is greatly appreciated!!
