Help raise funds to keep Kim alive.
Auckland
Kim is the loving partner of over 25 years to Iain, and mother to Eden aged 20 and young Luke (soon to turn 13). She wants to see Eden grow into an independent young woman, and watch her wee boy grow into a young man. With your help, we believe this is possible!
Kim was a pharmacy assistant, and during the first lockdown in 2020, she started to cough. Being exposed to so many unwell people, she was tested twice for Covid-19, both times with negative results. She knew something still wasn't right, and after more investigation, it was found that she has a very rare form of cancer on her lung (which has never been seen in non smokers like Kim).
Because the tumour is situated so close to her heart it is inoperable.
Kim began chemo and radiotherapy last year, and the signs after treatment were incredibly positive - until a further scan in May 2021 has found that her tumor is growing back.
A few weeks ago, an oncologist told Kim there was nothing more she could do, and that she believed Kim would likely not see this Christmas! We all insisted that she continue to look for more answers and another opinion! She has found another oncologist who believes that Kim may be eligible for a University trial, and he believes Kim is the perfect candidate for Immunotherapy (which is not funded - specifically tecentriq/atezolizumab).
Kim now needs to start gathering funds to help her stay alive.
As Kim is not working and Iain is a contractor who will need to take some time off work to help look after Kim during her treatment, they will need to raise at least $100,000 to make this happen.
As part of her support crew (whether you are a friend, colleague, neighbour or complete stranger) any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated in helping a fantastic, loving mother stick around to see her children grow up. Kim, Iain, Eden and Luke would be forever grateful for your kindness and financial support. x
I am one of Kim's friends and support crew. She has been like another mother to our daughter, and is like family to us. We couldn't imagine life without her in it.
Money raised will go straight towards Kim's immunotherapy treatment (tecentriq/atezolizumab), and any funds left over will assist the family with living costs during Kim's treatment and recovery.
4th Round of Chemotheraphy 10 September 2021
Hi everyone, we can’t thank everyone enough for all your kind words and gentle encouragement to Kim while she is going through her treatment. Kim has just had her fourth round of Chemo, amongst all the uncertainty that Level 4 lockdown brings, which has bought with it these nasty nauseous feelings once again, along with tiredness and the other usual unwelcome side effects.
Immunotherapy is ongoing, and Kim’s midway scan is happening next week.
We all have our fingers and toes crossed that this scan will show us something incredibly positive and give Kim the strength to stick with the rest of the treatment she has been offered.
Your kind donations have helped immensely, and we still have a way to go to get the rest of the therapy Kim needs to make a life changing difference. If you can spread the word, or share this page for Kim, we would all be so grateful!
