After a devastating brain cancer diagnosis, Scotty needs our help. Every donation gives our family hope for him to be around for our Kippy!
Christchurch, Canterbury
I'm Mia, Scotty's fiancée, and together we have our beautiful 15 month old son, Kipp.
A year ago, our little life of three felt perfect.
Then last August, our lives changed forever when Scotty was unexpectedly diagnosed with Grade 3 Brain Cancer after a CT scan following a sports injury. Since then we've faced surgery, endless scans, fear and unimaginable uncertainty.
One of the hardest losses so far has been Scotty's career. The same day he was diagnosed he was told he'd never fly again. Being an Air New Zealand Captain had been a lifelong dream and anyone who knows him knows how much he loved flying and his colleagues.
Through it all Scotty has shown incredible strength. To us, he's so much more than his diagnosis. He's Kippy's Dadda, my soulmate and the heart of our little family.
Now we're facing the next stage - a high risk second surgery, specialist care, unfunded treatments and possible overseas procedures at significant cost. The surgery carries a real risk of compromising Scotty's left side and possible paralysis, all the while the financial pressures continue to grow.
Scotty would never ask for help himself, so I'm asking for him. Every donation will help us access the best possible care, cover treatment costs and give Scotty every chance to keep fighting.
If you are able to donate, thank you. If not, even sharing our story would mean the world!
From the bottom of our hearts thank you for your love, kindness and support.
Love Mia, Scotty, Kippy & our families xx
These funds will be used to access the best care available, cover treatment and unfunded medication costs, and ease some of the stressful financial burden while we can't work, so we can continue to fight this fight as our little family of three. Page updates will be provided when we know more about treatment options.
