You are helping a young Kiwi girl chase her dream and represent her community
Papakura, Auckland
Kia ora whānau,
Our daughter, Hayden, has been awarded an incredible 50% scholarship to attend the Brent Street Summer Camp in Sydney this coming January. Brent Street is one of Australasia’s leading dance training programs for young performers.
Hayden is a passionate, hardworking little dancer who trains in hip hop, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, acro and cabaret.
In 2023, Hayden was recognised nationally for achieving one of the highest hip hop exam grades in the country. She also performs proudly in her school’s kapa haka, where she has been given solo parts and just last month, Hayden was part of a duo that sung “Mārie Te Pō” at the Papakura Carols in the Park.
This opportunity will be life-changing for Hayden. Brent Street offers training and mentorship at a level not available in New Zealand, and attending would help her grow her skills, confidence, and dreams as a young performer representing Aotearoa.
However, with the trip falling so close to Christmas, our whānau is struggling to meet the remaining costs for flights, accommodation, and fees. We are working hard, applying for grants, and doing everything we can — but we need a little help to get her there.
We would be so grateful for any support please. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings her one step closer to Sydney and one step closer to her dream.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for believing in our little girl.
Ngā mihi nui,
Natalie and Brian Ruka
