Please help stop Alfie's pain

  • Surgery complete, time to heal

Alfie had his surgery on Wed and I picked him up yesterday. The specialist was shocked at how well he's been doing. He's getting the hang of walking pretty well although still a little wobbly as he figures it out, he's eating by himself again for the first time in ages. He is much happier without that painful leg dragging behind him even though he will have post op pain. We'll get the histology on the cancer in a couple weeks most likely but we don't expect to need more treatment for that. Will get him to physio in a couple weeks and go from there.

Thank you again for all your support, it's been so amazing and blew my mind, I didn't expect everyone to be so generous and loving towards us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    Love Nicky and Alfie x

  • Get really close to surgery now...

I'll be getting a call from Alfie's neurologist tomorrow then we'll be booking in his surgery. The medication trial made no difference, which is what we expected but worth a try given that amputation is so major.

I'm thinking it'll be Wed or Thurs so will be on his way to recovery very soon hopefully.

Does mean I have to pay for it on the day so appreciate any donations now more than ever.

    Thank you so much everyone.

When I updated the total yesterday forgot to remove the direct donations as well. So far all up the total is at $7,130. Which means we are over half way!

Thank you so much amazing people, couldn't help Alfie without you.

  • Reduced a bit as expensive back surgery ruled out!

    Hi guys,

Now that it's confirmed it'll be a leg amputation ($8k quote) it's a bit cheaper than back surgery ($10k quote) so I've reduced our goal a little with the MRI being $5300 then there will be physio and follow up visits needed.

Thanks so much for your support x

  • Pending Diagnosis

      16 April 2025

MRI results reviewed, appears he has a very small cancer in his leg that is causing nerve damage. The treatment for this will be to amputate the leg which should be enough to contain it. In a last ditch effort before doing that we are going to try some meds for the small chance it's an autoimmune nerve inflammation causing the issue but this is unlikely but given the dramatic proposed treatment 1 or 2 weeks is worth a shot.

Thank you so much for your support.

  • MRI results pending

      15 April 2025

    Hi guys,

So his MRI was moved up to yesterday due to deteriorating. They told me when I dropped him off they'd contact me for consent and proceed straight to surgery if the problem is obviously. Unfortunately it wasn't on the neurologist quick glance of the images. This means we'll need to wait for the MRI report today from the radiologist to see what the next step is. May need an ultrasound as well before any treatment.

    Will keep you posted.

Once again thank you so much for making this possible.

    Nicky and Alfie

I'm so blown away by the amazing support Alfie and I have received from all you great people!

Alfie is booked in for his MRI on Tuesday. Which the donates to date will now cover 🎉 He went to the vet today to change his fentanyl patch and pick up more meds. He's feeling a bit sick on the meds but hopefully get some more food into him later.

    Thanks again,

    Nicky & Alfie

  • Thank you so much

      11 April 2025

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to the amazing generosity we have received so far.

I know there are a lot of scams on the internet so I've also added a copy of Alfie's specialist consult fees from our visit yesterday where he will be getting further treatment.

    Thanks again,

    Nicky and Alfie x
