I'm needing help to fund my gender reassignment surgery, as no insurance providers will cover me, and public wait list is 15 years long
Marlborough
Since I was young I've known I was different, how different I didn't truly grasp. It wasn't until I was a little older once diagnosed with gender dysphoria did it really sink in. Now being transgender is my normal it's rough and alot of times I get overlooked or disregarded.
A big issue I'm having is finding funds for an incredibly important surgery. Commonly called bottom surgery or gender reassignment surgery. Unfortunately in New Zealand no medical or health insurance providers will ever cover such a surgery and the public wait list presently sits at 15 years. Its horrendous
By getting this surgery I can alleviate a substantial amount of my dysphoria which for those who don't know is a terrible burden, its makes one feel trapped inside their own skin, feels as though they are watching someone's else's life through their eyes as mind and body don't connect, it also often brings along its friends depression and anxiety.
This surgery is reasonably expensive and for someone who barely gets by most weeks ( quite a few weeks I'm short and end up less in food) it leaves no real way to move forward and to have a life that I want, that I should have, that everyone deserves.
Im not usually one to ask for money, but I've come to the end of a long list of options. So please if you could spare anything I'd be most grateful.
If sufficient funds are raised I can finally get my gender reassignment surgery, a goal that has been 15 years in the making. Any excess will be donated to the local groups which help support and encourage the youth in the community
