Please help support this life-saving treatment for my mum!
Warkworth, Auckland
At Christmas, my mother Claire Feasey was given a grim prognosis from her oncologist: "Your cancer is back and you have 6-12 months to live". She has been fighting a recurrent clear cell ovarian carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer for 3 years. As the cancer has progressed it's spread to the base of her spine, making surgery too risky and causing her constant pain.
However we recently found a ray of hope. Ironically, due to a genetic disorder (Lynch Syndrome) that she has, immunotherapy is a highly effective treatment. This is a miracle therapy better than anything we could have dreamed of, with the potential for dramatically improving and extending her life for years to come. Even better, her tumour's growth has recently plateaued, giving us precious time to act - if we can secure this treatment.
My mother is the heart and soul of our family. As a single mother, she’s faced the challenges of raising my two brothers and me with unwavering love and strength, all while battling this relentless disease.
Because Keytruda (the immunotherapy drug) is not publicly funded for my mother's cancer in New Zealand her dad has had to borrow $83,000 to fund the course of two year’s treatment. But this does not cover a range of ongoing associated costs such as specialist visits, scans and supportive care. Your support - whether through a donation or by sharing this page - means the world to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
I'm Claire Feasey's eldest son. I'm setting up this page on her behalf to raise money for her
Any funds received will be used to pay for treatment (Keytruda) specialist visits, scans, additional pain relieving therapy such as massage, supportive care, and/or daily living needs.
