Please help support Nicholas to get well
Auckland
Just a few days ago my brother Dean and his wife Teresa with their two boys Nicholas 13 and Christopher 11 worlds were turned upside down when their oldest boy Nicholas was diagnosed with leukemia. It started when Nick felt unwell and what was a visit to the Doctors saw them straight to Waikato and then to Star Ship Hospital within less than 24 hours
Nicholas lives with his Mum and Dad (Dean and Teresa) and younger brother Christopher on their farm in Taumarunui, which is about a four hour trip to Star Ship Hospital from their home
Nicholas will be on a treatment schedule for the next 2 years and 3 months and that's with no interruptions and the Doctors have said "there are always interruptions"
As you can imagine this is very daunting for them and even for us trying to support them from a distance. Their lives have changed and will continue so for the foreseeable future
As their family we are doing anything we can do to make that more comfortable and this is just a way of giving the family some financial support through this time and help get Nick anything he may need
Thank you so much for your support
Nicholas is my nephew
The idea of the funds raised will contribute to the family being away from home and help go towards anything Nicholas may need
Nicholas's Update 25 November 2021
Nicholas and family would like to thank you for all your support throughout this journey, we really appreciate it and as a family we're truly humbled by beautiful people like yourselves.
Nick still has a long recovery ahead of him with our end of treatment date set to mid February 2023. Although that may seem awhile away, he has finished all of the intensive treatment and things will slowly start to get back to our new "normal".
Covid has impacted this by keeping Nick at home when he could have been looking at going back to school to reconnect with his friends that he hasn't seen in over twelve months and being immune compromised we are very tentative as it could be disastrous if he was to contract it or even other diseases which he was once vaccinated against.
Nick has a love of Lego Star Wars and we often joke he's currently working for Lego due to the amount he has.
Pictured is Nick with some of his beads, he has almost 700 beads at the moment, each one represents a treatment, seeing a specialist ie: pain team an event or an act of bravery. The last bead will be the end of treatment....a purple Heart 💜
As the saying goes...time heals all wounds, thank you again, stay safe x
