Please help us support Dan and Nidda O'Brien following the sudden loss of their precious baby girl Luna.
Upper Hutt, Wellington
This is the hardest of hard times.
There really aren’t any words, and the words written here are never going to be able to express the immense difficulty of this situation.
On Wednesday the 6th of December, the most loving and caring parents you will ever meet lost their baby girl, Luna Rose O’Brien. A twin sister to Zoë Blue, and a little sister known as “my Luna” to her big 3 year old brother, Arlo, and baby girl to Nidda and Dan.
Being 13 months old, her beautiful personality was fully grown and the only way to describe her to someone who hasn’t met her is; she was sunshine.
She was the warmth needed on a blustery day, the smile that lit up the room, the laugh that touched your soul. She was fire and she is very much still shining bright.
In normal situations where people are grieving the death of a loved one, you can go through the process of grieving in a kind of linear way. This is not a normal grief. This is unchartered territory for everyone involved and we have no answers to how long it will take, or what can be done, to get to whatever a new normal may be.
So what we are asking for, is time. Time to grieve. Time to not worry about work. Time to heal.
As hard as it is to ask for money at the best of times, this is the hardest of times and every dollar not only gives Nidda, Dan, Arlo and Zoë a bit of time and some financial relief, but it also shows your support, your love, a little spark of kindness and shared humanity, and right now we need every speck of that we can get.
Dan and Nidda had to abruptly stop working following this sudden death. The money raised here will support them while they grieve and heal. It will also help with funeral expenses.
