  • Getting stronger

Caramel is doing well and getting stronger every day. He does not like the crate and meows asking to be let out (typically between 1-4 am). When having physio he looks around as though he is planning his escape 😉 He loves being out on the, stretching and asking for tummy rubs.

Caramel is adjusting well. He is a little reserved and sore at times but is enjoying some belly rubs and has purred a few times, especially for young Miles, whom he is more patient with. He tolerates his exercises and is eating well. Only woke us up once this last night as opposed 2-3 times the first 2 nights Very grateful for all the help and his recovery. 😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😺❤️

The Operation bill was 5681 and the vet 550 so we adjusted the goal.

Caramel will be home now but confined to the crate for 8-10 weeks only coming out for exercises and massage a few times daily. Thank you for all the help

    😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😺❤️

We are going to Palmerston North tomorrow, Friday to pick up Caramel and take him home. He has done very well in his recovery but will still need to be careful. He will stay in a crate for 10 days and only be allowed out for massages and stretches. The family is lining up already 😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😺❤️

  • Tuesday's report - getting better

      16 June 2020

Caramel is recovering well. He is having physiotherapy today with massages and stretches to test his range of motion. He is still on pain meds but has been taken off fluids and is hydrating well.

The team at Massey looking after him are amazing 😊❤️😺

Just had the 2nd call today with update from Caramels nurse who advised he was feeling better, has been eating and most of all did a big wee by himself which is a sign his bladder is working and a huge step forward in his recovery. Thank you all for your generosity and support 😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😺❤️

The photo was forwarded by the nurses today

  • Caramel recovering well - latest

      15 June 2020

Monday morning update from Caramels nurse is that he appears to be recovering well. He has had his catheter removed today and they are waiting to see if he can wee by himself which would be a huge step forward. He is on pain meds and still receiving fluids but he has started to eat a little and might be moved up to the ward soon as it is more quiet there

we are hoping to get a photo sent soon 😊😊😊

  • Surgery went well

      14 June 2020

We just had a call from surgeon. Caramel is in post op and the spine re-alignment surgery went well. We will hear more once he wakes up and he will be assessed tomorrow for any nerve damage. Thank you for all your support ❤️❤️❤️

  • feedback after CT scan

      14 June 2020

We just had a call from the surgeon who reported the CT scan confirmed the X ray finding where one section of the spine was shifted slightly off centre and that there were no other fractures. Caramel is going into surgery now (Sunday morning 10.45am). His chances are reasonable and success will largely depend on his nerve function recovery.

Thank you so much for all your support ❤️❤️❤️
