Please help Kjesten raise funds for her exchange to Germany 25-26. We appreciate any help you can give her.
Upper Hutt, Wellington
Hi, my name is Kjesten, and I am hoping to participate in a 3-month exchange to Germany in 2025-2026!
Why Germany?
For the past year, I’ve been learning German through Te Kura at my high school since German isn’t offered there. An exchange to Germany will allow me to fully immerse myself in the language and culture — helping me grow academically, but also personally. I believe stepping outside my comfort zone for three months will teach me more about myself than I could ever learn at home.
I chose to learn German because my grandfather was Swiss and grew up speaking Swiss German. He passed away before I had the chance to meet him, so he was never able to teach me his language. Learning German is the closest way I can connect with that part of my heritage, and it means more to me than words can express.
I already have around $10,000 for my exchange, given to me from my other grandad's estate after he passed away 2 years ago. I have also applied for scholarships and have some savings from past part-time jobs. I am also currently looking for a permanent part-time job locally to raise more money.
This exchange is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and any support—whether through a donation or simply sharing my page—would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for helping me make this dream a reality!
Kjesten is our youngest daughter and very keen to spread her wings and experience life and culture in another country.
Funds will go towards exchange costs of flights, education costs, insurance and living expenses.
