Hi Maria, I am aware but the DHB does not pay 100% of accommodation or travel costs.

The DHB will book and pay for travel and accommodation on your behalf to any appointments including the bariatric surgery ones

Hi Philippa, thank you very much for your message. The DHB are paying for part of our travel costs but as I’m only on a benefit I will use these funds to cover the excess. This journey has already cost my family over $200 in accomodation costs. We have driven to chch as it is easier than transferring from plane to plane for me as I’m currently in a wheel chair.
