Help me raise funds post amputation
Blenheim, Marlborough
over the past 3 months have been struggling with infection in my foot and in that time I have had septicaemia or blood poisoning 3 times. Each time Meant a hospital visit in which the surgeons operated on my foot to clean it out which then meant constant visits/trips to the district nurses for wound dressing and changes and weeks of antibiotics and feeling pretty yuk really.
This last visit I was admitted to Wairau on New Year’s Eve and spent a week in the ward, each day getting worse and no real explanation as to why so I was flown to Nelson on 7th Jan where the drs realised that my foot was basically a big ball of infection and disease, the decision was then made by me to have my foot amputated rather than take the risk of the infection spreading to the rest of my body.
So on Wednesday 12 Jan I had my foot amputated from mid calf. The recovery is going to be slow and although some costs are publicly funded, will be a very expensive time for me and my family, hence this give a little page. I intend to use the money raised to get a mobility scooter and to cover costs of travel and accommodation for the many stays in Wellington for while my prosthesis is made and fitted.
I would like to be able to get a mobility scooter and help cover the costs of travel and accommodation for trips to Wellington for prosthesis fittings
Update 10.02.2022 10 February 2022
Just thought I would give a quick update, I have used some of the money donated to pay for a disability parking card so it’s easier to get the wheelchair ect out of the car. It’s amazing how much space they take up.
Thank you so much for this amazing donation
