Please support the Whittam-Murphy family

$13,788 donated
Given by 137 generous donors in around 9 months

Please donate to support Naomi's cancer journey and show our support for her and her family as they create precious memories together.

Christchurch, Canterbury

Kia ora friends and whānau

My beautiful friend Naomi is going through an extremely challenging journey battling terminal stage 4 bowel cancer :( This diagnosis has come as a sudden shock and unfortunately it has spread extensively and fast throughout vital organs in the past few months. Her condition is deteriorating rapidly and she is in a lot of pain. This has put a lot of emotional and financial strain and stress on Naomi, her husband Andy and their wee 15month old Ronin. This involves a lot of intensive medical treatment, Andy travelling back and forth to the hospital multiple times a day, and them needing to relocate their home closer to family. Sadly she has only been given approximately 6-9 months, all depending on how she responds to radiation and chemo treatments.

They would really appreciate all the love and support from their community to be able to create more precious experiences and memories as a whānau in the brief time they have left, and to be able to afford the daily costs of life, especially when Naomi is allowed home. A practical way we can all show our support is by helping donate some money to help them achieve this. It takes a village and we know that if everyone were to contribute even a small amount this would have a huge impact. Please gift only what you are comfortable and able to.

This would mean the world to the Whittam-Murphy family and they are extremely appreciative of all the love, time and support you give.

I'm just a friend wanting to show love and support in practical ways for them.

Use of funds

The money will be spent on medical costs (doctors visits, medication etc), food, travel and living expenses, providing an income while Andy is reducing work hours as he cares for Naomi and their son. Naomi would love to spend time having experiences together and buy some books for Ronin.

Naomi has spread her wings 💔🕊  31 May 2025

It is with broken hearts and sadness that we share that our beautiful Naomi has passed peacefully in the hospice surrounded by her family and friends.

Words cannot express our grattitude for all of the love, time and generousity you all have shown.

We would especially like to honour the Christchurch Nurse Maude Hospice for their staff's outstanding love, respect, humour, grace and above and beyond care they have given to Naomi and family. As an organisation they rely on donations so if you'd like to give a donation in Naomi's name you can via this link:
