My dad Chris has just been diognosed with prostate Cancer and with no $ owing to him is in need of abit of help for the bills after surgery
Taranaki
Chris has grade 7 Prostate Cancer, which is either surgery or radiation treatment, so Dad will go with Surgery.
Dad will be off work for 6-7 weeks after surgery.
At the same time he has been given 42 days notice at his property he rents, due to the new owners moving into the property.
I would like to take a little of the stress off of him By raising some money to help him pay for moving and his Bills after his surgery. Due to the fact he has no money owing to him from his Job as he has been unwell for some time now, and is unsure how he will be able to support himself after the op. Please help anything at all xX It all matter's. Dad was on the committee that formed the New Plymouth Community Foodbank, and then worked there as a volunteer for nearly a year providing for people needs. He then started a community drop in centre in con-junction with the Adventist Community services (ADRACare), providing stop smoking programs, Health programs, and Cooking programs for the community, as well as advocacy services for those in need. The centre also provided furniture and clothing etc for many struggling families and solo parents. After this was established, Dad now working still as a volunteer for ADRACare, and in conjunction with WINZ, started a Community Garden, and working with NZHITO trained 84 young people in NZQA Units in Horticulture and some Units in Agriculture. A local Training provider also had students at the Community Garden and also the Probation Service sent people along to complete hours of Community Service.
The program was very successful and became a full time job for Dad, who then took on the next stage of 2 years of Training as a Counsellor, and started using these skills to further help clients and trainees to self improvement and change of lifestyle. The Gardens then took on the further role of developing into a Mobile Soup Kitchen with the purchase of old caravans, the striping down and rebuilding of these, again utilizing the skills of volunteers and trainees, and started distributing free food into several areas of the community as well as to Retirement homes. Added to this was Drug and Alcohol Education Programs in all of the local Secondary schools and Intermediate schools in the local area, and then a lot of these programs Dad took out into different areas of New Zealand where they were taken on board by other local Seventh Day Adventist Churches, under the wing of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (recognized NGO)
Dad also found throughout the country companies that were willing to support these projects Nationwide, and was soon running a Food Warehousing program from Auckland that provided palleted food to Foodbanks and Community projects Nationwide, including some of the 1st Breakfast in schools programs in NZ.
Dad was also involved in the local Community Christmas Dinner organizing team, serving as a member for 16years and only recently pulling back because of health issues and work conflicts. Dad still works as a Volunteer Counsellor from home, helping people refered to him or those that are seeking assistance, and has selflessly helped many people all over NZ without ever turning anyone away. Now Dad needs a bit of help and I hope that you can give a little..Thank you all
