Paige is a 17yr old who was in a car accident and has fractured her neck
Nationwide
On the 30th of October 2014 Paige was the passenger in a car accident, she was asleep at the time of the accident and woke up in an ambulance screaming in agony not knowing what had happened or where she was.
She was in a neck brace and strapped onto the bed in the back of the ambulance.
She was rushed to Christchurch hospital.
MRI scans showed she had fractured her c1 and c2 vertebrae, fractured the base of her skull and that she has a shadow on her brain.
She was moved to the spinal unit.
We are in Auckland we being her father and stepmother. We asked for them to please transfer her to auckland which they said they would but wouldn't be till mon.
We tried our hardest to raise the money for her father to get down there to be with her till she could be moved here unsuccessfully.
When monday rolled around instead of flying her up they discharged her leaving her and her partner stranded and broke in Christchurch with no place to stay.
We now have to repay $400 to a friend that lent us the airfare to get her here and find a cheap decent car that can accommodate me, her father, our three kids, her and her partner any and all help is so massively appreciated in going towards getting her back to health. we have been told it could take up to a year recovering and id the fractures don't heal right we could be looking at surgery.
Update for 08/11/2014 8 November 2014
So we had the occupational therapist come over yesterday and told us Paige should not have been discharged should not have been cleared to fly should have been transfered to auckland spinal unit and should be in a halo. So may be getting put in a halo monday morning we will find out more then. Till then we have nurses coming in daily to check her etc
