Please help contribute towards our essential hall renovations which will commence 6th May 2017 with Marae DIY

Taranaki

The set up of this "Give a Little" page hopes that you can assist the Patea Maori Club in achieving our dream of restoring and repairing our community hall with a donation.

The renovations will enable this local landmark to be used at its full capacity, thus ensuring the Patea Maori Club continue to work as ambassadors for the community, ambassadors for NZ and most importantly ambassadors of the Maori language and customs through the art of kapa haka.

Since the release of the hit single, Poi E, we have worked hard to maintain our profile as cultural leaders – locally, nationally and internationally. Our stability results from the loyal dedication and commitment from club members, members of the community and of course the right facility – the Patea Maori Club Hall.

We were fortunate to be accepted on the Maori Television series, Marae DIY, a show that helps Maori communities restore, reinvent and revitalise a valuable asset – their local Marae. We are grateful that the show views the club hall in the same regard and whilst they are helping us achieve our DIY dreams in many ways, extra resourcing and funding are still required. The work will commence Thursday, 4th May to Sunday, 7th May 2017.

Patea Maori Club humbly asks that you support us in making our DIY dreams a reality through donations. This will help towards our renovations which is upgrading of the kitchen, renovating the wharepaku, installing two new heat pumps, new carpet and vinyl and a play area at the back for our tamariki.

Your investment albeit large or small will be greatly appreciated and will last for generations.

Hall address: 47 Bedford St, State Highway 3, PATEA

About us

The Patea Maori Club – Famous in New Zealand for its hit Poi E, which held the number one spot on the NZ music charts for four weeks back in the 80's. Over the years, the Pátea Máori Club has performed for royalty and celebrities in New Zealand and abroad. In 2005 the group was selected by the New Zealand Government to perform in Seoul, South Korea, and to represent New Zealand at the World Expo in Aichi, Japan.
