Loving Mum diagnosed with Leukemia - 3 beautiful teenage children are struggling with daily needs while mum is fighting cancer.
Auckland
Mum (Shelley Woodney) was admitted to hospital for tonsillitis 02/04/2015, routine blood tests revealed she has (ALL) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
My brothers and I have watched my mother leave her career to follow her dream of nursing, she sacrificed so much while she took on 3 years full time study, raising us kids as a single mum and working 6 part-time jobs. Her graduation was such a proud moment for us. She is into her third year of nursing and has been nursing for the last year in a Prison where she believes she can make a difference and make a change.
Due to her illness Mum will be undergoing 3 phases of 4 weeks of chemotherapy and then will undergo a bone marrow transplant.
For the time being mum cannot return to work, which of course means the pressures of paying the mortgage and day to day costs of living. So the donations on this page will go towards power bills, phone bills, medical expenses, petrol, hospital parking, groceries, house heating, rates, water bills, school fees and wig expenses.
Mum is a very independent person and she finds it hard to ask for help so we have decided to ask on her behalf as we know she deserves this, she is always there for others.
If we can give a little Mum can focus 100% on her recovery.
As we have seen on mums Facebook she has a signature of poking her tongue out in photos and she is writing a blog to keep everyone updated on her good and bad days and also good therapy for her..... so follow her blog "Letsallpokeatongueformum".
There are so many of you offering love and support, so this is a practical way that those of you that are wanting to help are able to.
Poke your tongue at that Leukaemia!
I am mums daughter and am doing this on behalf of myself and my 2 brothers, we desperately want Mum to be financially supported and would appreciate any help we can get while we all struggle with this diagnosis.
