Being part of a community means that we are all responsible for our community. To share empathy, compassion, we are here to inspire!
Northland
Kaipara being a lower socio economic district will benefit from Positivity through hōiho in all our communities focus areas.
Increased Equity- "An equitable society is one that is fair, without bias and where all people can thrive on their own terms."
Animals are by far the most non judgmental teachers. unfortunately many within our community cannot afford or would not otherwise be given this opportunity. Working with local schools and well established community entities will provide the opportunity to many that would not otherwise receive it. Funded sessions run through Primary Schools, high schools and agencies in need of positive activity options will mean more Tamariki and whanau are able to thrive. Equine industries is a strong and viable industry in NZ and around the world giving many employment opportunities. There are many Tamariki/ rangatahi within Government systems which do not meet the " Disability" criteria for their own funding. We aim to fill that gap!
"E hara taku toa
i te toa takitahi,
he toa takitini"
Social inclusion- Each individuals journey with hōiho is achieved differently but still working towards a common goal. This outlines the importance of how every individual no matter how different in colour, learning ability, background or mannerism can be included as one community. Each point of learning through hōiho is meaningful, teaching determination, acceptance, achievement and a sense of belonging. ( provided funded sessions will include those who would not otherwise be able to afford or have available this opportunity).
"He rangi tà matawhaiti,
he rangi ta matawhanui"
Regenerative environment- Hōiho bring Tamariki and whanau to the outdoors. Caring for hōiho and learning the lessons they have to teach gives a connection and access to Te Taiao/nature and the land. learning of plants poisonous to hōiho and pasture management teaches kaitiakitanga of te whenua.
Community Support- Hōiho teach valuable lessons in resilience, communication, understanding, pride and personal skills. they are not just restricted to riding. Building positive relationships.
The positive interaction and lessons learnt from hōiho will flow out through to whānau and community. participants will learn positive and meaningful outcomes through assertive, kind and respectful communication.
